F-X Fighter Jet
defenseuptodate.com – The Japanese government plans to replace the F-2 belonging to the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) with 6th generation fighter jets in collaboration with Britain and Italy in December 2022. This was reported by the Asahi media, regarding the agreement on the export of their future fighter jets.
This future fighter jet program was named F-X in November 2020. This program is like adopting the canceled fifth generation fighter jet program X-2 shishin which has been canceled in the past. The program will be led by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) in partnership with UK’s BAE Systems and IHI Corporation in partnership with Roll Royce and Italian company Avio Aero for the jet engine production.
The F-2 program is planned for completion in 2035, and is ready to replace the service of the F-2 fighter
in 2035, the F-2 will begin to be phased out, and the F-X fighter will be ready for use.
